Game of Thrones Portraits
Times Magazine Photo Shoot
British fashion photographer Miles Aldridge recently did a Game of Thrones Portrait shoot for Times Magazine. Miles even including the two show producers! The show is onto its penultimate series, airing in the UK on Sky Atlantic on a Monday night. Time magazine dedicated a whole issue to the most popular TV show in the world and commissioned Miles to shoot the stars for the cover.
Included in the photo shoot were Kit Harrington, Maisie Williams, Peter Dinklage and more. Miles took inspiration for the style of Renaissance portraiture. Then combining that with pop-art and psychedelic colours. Resulting is some truly magnificent portraits. The interview in the Times with Miles quotes him as saying “Albrecht Dürer and Lucas Cranach as influences for the photos, stating both artists worked with “bizarre super reality of detail” with top notes of “Protestant Lutheran purity. These sort of images were fascinating because of their insane attention to detail.”

The cover image took a “tripped-back interpretations of The Last Supper for composition and Cy Twombly for colour.” Sadly with the various commitments of the cast, Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, had to be photographed two days after everyone else. Then she was later photoshopped into the image.
For the portraits of the cast, please have look at the gallery below. Miles work is truly amazing with the colours just popping off the screen.
I love these photos and the amount of work put in to pull these off must have been immense. Saying that the results speak for themselves.
If you enjoyed these images, then please leave a comment telling us which one caught your eye.
